At the airport

There will be no looking back
We promised each other
Before we drove to the airport

I get down from the car
Take my bags from the trunk
And walk straight to the door

There will be no kisses
No hugs and embraces
No words, no goodbyes

There was a long line
Of people like me and you
At the airport entrance

There were hugs and kisses
There were tears in their eyes
There were lots of goodbyes

I looked back for you
But only the empty space
Was there to meet my eye

    • Thank you very much Scott. I’ve read some of your poems, and they make me sad too. Keep writing, and thanks!

  2. It was good! But it made me sad.

  3. she must have lingered
    and wished
    you’d look back
    but then
    it took you a while
    to learn
    you can’t keep yourself
    from looking back…
